Cobham Road Solar Farm

The dates for the Cobham Road Solar Farm planning appeal have been announced and there is very little time for residents to submit new written representations as submissions must be in by November 18th.

The background to the appeal is that last April, Mole Valley Councillors voted to refuse plans to install multiple arrays of solar panels across fields at Slyfield Farm next to the Cobham Road. Together with the Fetcham Residents Association (FRA), Councillors were concerned that the development was an erosion of Green Belt land, and it would damage the rich biodiversity of the area. The photo below shows one of the fields which will be affected.

There are also concerns that the proposed 129-acre development will damage the setting of nearby Grade 1 Listed buildings. The FRA is a strong supporter of green energy, but believes that in this particular Green Belt location, the harms outweigh the benefits.
